The Naval Chief visited USA from March 19 to 28 of this year. Discussions on bilateral Naval Cooperation, including possible procurement of the PC-3 Orion Maritime Reconnaissance Aircraft were held. The proposal is at a preliminary stage. No US aid was sought to augment Indian Naval strength.
This information was given by the Defence Minister Shri Pranab Mukherjee in a written reply to Dr. Akhilesh Das in Rajya Sabha today.
