VIETNAM SEEKS INDIA'S HELP IN COMBATING CORRUPTION

An eight member Vietnamese delegation led by Mr. NGUY VAN THAN, Deputy Chairman of Special Anti-Corruption Commission (SACC) of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam today held discussions with the senior officials of the Central Bureau of Investigation on anti-corruption measures. The Indian side was led by the Director, CBI, Shri U.S. Misra, who highlighted the historical, social and cultural similarities of both the countries and also said that both the countries are facing similar problems of corruption. The Indian side shared their experience of anti-corruption work and the mandate given to CBI in enforcing anti-corruption laws and policy and also the coordination among the law enforcing agencies in the country in tackling corruption. Shri Misra said that both countries should continue to work towards combating corruption and share their experience. Shri Misra also told the delegations about the expertise of the C.B.I. in the field of cyber crime, bank frauds, security frauds, money laundering and wildlife crimes. The head of the Vietnamese delegation hoped that India will continue to render support to Vietnam in its endeavor in combating corruption and wanted that India should also help them in preventing corruption. The visiting delegation was given an overview of strategy of handling corruption in the country, the legal measures and the preventing
measures taken to check corruption.
