The Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment has taken various steps and adopted mechanisms to ensure the proper utilisation of funds released by it. These include insistence on utilization certrificates of past releases of funds before any fresh releases are made. The Ministry also obtains progress reports from States/UTs showing the progress of utilisation of schemes, number of beneficiaries, etc. Meetings with State Secretaries are also convened to ascertain the progress of implementation of schemes.
This was stated by the Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment, Smt. Subbulakshmi Jagadeesan in a written reply in the Lok Sabha today.
