The Ministry of Shipping, Road Transport & Highways has issued modified guidelines for regulating access for fuel Stations, Service Stations and Rest Areas along National Highways on 17.10.2003. In the modified guidelines, norms have been laid down for location, layout and access to fuel Stations along National Highways. These norms are to be followed for seeking and granting permission for access to the new fuel stations.
The cases sanctioned/cleared by field Executive Engineer does not necessarily mean clearance of proposals by the competent authority. The proposals are to fulfill norms laid down in the Ministry’s guidelines.
Ministry’s guidelines provide clear cut norms to be fulfilled, list of documents to be submitted and checklist to be followed for getting approval for installation of fuel Stations along National Highways.
This information was given in the Lok Sabha today in a written reply by the Minister of State for Shipping, Road Transport and Highways, Shri K.H. Muniyappa.
