RITES Ltd. has bagged major road consultancy and construction supervision contracts in Orissa. It has been engaged to provide services for Special Rural Connectivity Programme (SRCP) in the KBK districts of the state. The cost of Phase-I Components of programme is estimated to be Rs. 211 Crore which is likely to increase to Rs. 840 Crore. The project shall be completed with in period of three years involving reconstruction/new construction/rehabilitation of a total road length of approximately 1200 km. The project aims at providing basic connectivity to unconnected habitations with population of 1000 and above.
Another contract awarded to RITES entails the preparation of detailed project report and construction supervision of roads in Kalinganagar Industrial Area under Industrial Development Corporation of Orissa. Industrial Development Corporation of Orissa (IDCO) has planned to develop the Kalinganagar Industrial Area as Steel City (Total finished steel production of 16 million tonnes per annum) through private participation. Their immediate requirement is the common rail and road connectivity both for the plants and to the national network of transportation. The assignment for RITES would be two parts, Rail and Highways. The total length of the Project Road is approximately 35 km at an estimated cost of Rs. 60 crore. The total project duration is 24 months.
The third contract bagged by RITES is for quality surveillance for construction of roads in Sundargarh District (Orissa) under Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL)Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL), Sambalpur, Orissa has awarded repeat order to RITES for providing consultancy services for quality surveillance and inspection for the work of widening and strengthening of road from Balinga to Taparia for length of 24 km. The estimated cost of the project is Rs. 23 crore. The project duration is 30 months.
