Shri Sharad Pawar, Minister of Agriculture, Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution has condoled the untimely demise of Shri Sunil Dutt, Minister of Youth Affairs & Sports at Mumbai today. In a condolence message to the family Shri Pawar recalled the qualities of Shri Dutt as an able politician, veteran actor, a dedicated social worker and tireless champion of secular values. He said that in his death the country has lost a person who was totally committed to the cause of the poor and the down trodden who had utmost sympathy for the poor living in slums and victims of communal disharmony. Shri Pawar made special mention of Shri Dutt’s efforts in promoting AIDS-awareness and his contribution to the cause of cancer treatment. Winner of several awards for his excellence in films and contribution to international peace, Shri Dutt was currently engaged in making the youth of India achieve excellence in international sports events. “In his passing away the country has lost an able politician, an eminent film personality and above all a committed social worker and the loss is irreparable,” the Minister said.
