Cumulative production of Urea and DAP during 2004-2005 was 202.63 lakh MT and 51.85 lakh MT against the target of 193.69 and 66.90 lakh MT respectively. The estimated production of fertilizers during the month of March 2005 was 15.24 lakh MT of Urea and 3.38 lakh MT of DAP as against the target of 14.31 lakh MT and 5.31 lakh MT respectively. During March 2005, 15.58 lakh MT urea was despatched to the States against the target of 8.77 lakh MT. Cumulative availability of Urea during the current Rabi season by the end of March 2005 has been 117.11 lakh MT and availability was satisfactory in all the States. Further, the sale of Urea during Rabi 2004-05 up to 31st March 2005 was 107.67 lakh MT, which was higher by about 5 per cent as compared to the sale of 102.59 lakh MT in the corresponding period of the previous year and highest sale during any Rabi season so far.

As regards decontrolled fertilizers, cumulative availability of DAP and MOP during the current Rabi 2004-2005 season, by the end of March 2005 has been 43.05 lakh MT and 13.96 lakh MT respectively, which was adequate to meet the demand of the States. The cumulative import of urea, DAP and MOP up to March 2005 has been 6.41 lakh MT, 6.44 lakh MT and 34.09 lakh MT respectively.
