There has been a significant improvement in the number of passengers booked on Indian Railways during April, 2005. The total number of passengers booked during April, 2005 stood at 463.07 million as against 422.98 million booked during the same period last year i.e. April, 2004, thereby showing an improvement of 9.48 percent.
The number of suburban passengers that were booked during April, 2005 was 265.08 million as compared to the figure of 241.21 million passengers booked during April, 2004.
Regarding the number of passengers booked in non-suburban areas during the month of April, 2005, it was 197.99 million. The number of such passengers booked during the corresponding period last year i.e. April, 2004 was 181.77 million.
