New Coverage as well as the number of members enrolled BY THE Employees Provident Fund Organisation has increased during the last three years. Special Coverage Drives are also launched from time-to-time. During the period January 2005 to March 2005 a country-wide Special Coverage Drive was also launched as a result of which 19,854 establishments with 6,02,669 members were brought under the purview of the Employees’ Provident Funds & Miscellaneous Provisions Act, 1952.

Compliance of the establishments is regularly monitored through a computerized system namely, Computerised Compliance Tracking System (CCTS) and on detection of default or on receipt of specific complaints, inspections are conducted so as to discourage default.

A sum of Rs. 1167.16 crore (approximately) is outstanding from the private sector establishments affecting 23.70 lakh (approximately) employees as on March 2005.

This information was given by the Minister of Labour and Employment, Shri K. Chandrasekhar Rao in a written reply in Lok Sabha today.
