The apparent consumption of finished steel during 2004-05 stood at 334.00 lakh tonnes, which is higher by 7.2 per cent as compared to 311.69 lakh tonnes for the corresponding period last year.

In the year 2004-05, SAILs profit before tax expected to be Rs. 5739 crore in comparison to 2628 crore during 2003-04.
