The Govt. has decided that no fresh applications for grant will be entertained under the scheme of Access with Equity for hostels for girl students of secondary and higher secondary schools. The decision has been taken in view of limited resources. The Government is also contemplating a revision of the scheme as numerous problems are being encountered in its effective implementation. . The available funds will only be used for meeting the requirements of pending applications that are found to be complete in all respects. No applications for grants will be entertained and no grant will be given for 2005-06. Accordingly, voluntary organizations have been advised not to approach the Ministry of HRD for grant-in-aid under this scheme. Applications for grant will be accepted only after the revised scheme comes into force.

The Ministry of Human Resource Development has been providing financial assistance through the Grant-in-Aid Scheme under the scheme of Access with Equity for Hostels for girl students of secondary and higher secondary schools. According to this scheme, non-governmental organizations engaged in providing boarding and lodging facilities for girl students of secondary and higher secondary schools.
