Shri Navin B. Chawla, IAS (AGMUT:1969) has been appointed as Election Commissioner in the Election Commission of India. Sh. Chawla will assume the charge of the post of Election Commissioner with effect from 16th May, 2005, against the vacancy which will be caused by the proposed assumption of charge by Shri B.B. Tandon as Chief Election Commissioner on 16th May, 2005.
Shri Chawla is presently posted as Secretary, Ministry of Information & Broadcasting.
