The Union Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports, Shri Sunil Dutt held a meeting here today with Shri B. L. Joshi, Lt. Governor of Delhi, Smt. Sheila Dixit, Chief Minister, NCT of Delhi and Shri Suresh Kalmadi, President, Indian Olympic Association (IOA) to discuss further steps for preparation of Commonwealth Games - 2010. The meeting was also attended by the senior officials of the Union Youth Affairs and Sports Ministry, DDA, Government of NCT, Delhi and of IOA.
In view of the time bound nature of preparation for Commonwealth Games, it was emphasised that crucial bottlenecks in implementation and decision making be identified quickly. It was also decided to explore the possibility of a fast track mechanism for obtaining clearances from different bodies. A presentation on a conceptual plan for the different sites was also made.
At the end of the meeting, a few critical issues of immediate nature were identified. The senior officers have been directed to suggest solutions at a very early date. Accordingly, Secretary (Youth Affairs and Sports) has convened a meeting of senior officers of DDA, Government of NCT, Delhi, Sports Authority of India and the Ministry officials early next week.
