The Minister of Information & Broadcasting and Culture, Shri S. Jaipal Reddy today released the book ‘Katha Samrat Premchand’ on the noted Hindi author Munshi Premchand. Speaking on the occasion, Shri Reddy said that the message portrayed by Munshiji in his various literary works continued to be relevant even today and the younger generation needs to be made aware of it. Munshi Premchand reflected the authentic voice in the cause of women, communal harmony and social ethos of his times, he added. The book, published by the Publications Division, is a compilation of select articles on Munshiji.

The Minister said that the Government is committed to celebrate the 125th Birth Anniversary of the literary genius in a grand way. As part of the celebrations it has been planned to erect a memorial and set up a research center in his native place Lamhi in Uttar Pradesh. He said that his ministry would take up with the other ministries / departments to make available the works of Munshi Premchand in various Indian languages.
