delhi-rohtak road construction to be taken up on priority

Chief Minister of Haryana, Shri Bhupinder Singh Hooda called on the Union Minister of Shipping, Road Transport & Highways, Sh. T. R. Baalu today to discuss issues related to developments of roads in Haryana. The Chief Minister requested that the Delhi-Hissar stretch be divided into two packages viz. Delhi-Rohtak and Rohtak-Hissar. Sh. Baalu assured that the Delhi-Rohtak stretch would be taken up on priority.

The Chief Minister stressed on the need for construction of an elevated flyover on NH-1 at Panipat to ease congestion caused to the through traffic of the National Highways due to urban area at Panipat. Construction of an elevated stretch of national highway will be taken up by NHAI on Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) basis for which bids have already been received and evaluated.

On the need to complete six laning of Murthal-Smalkha section of NH-1, the Chief Minister was informed that the six laning work on this stretch had to be terminated for contractual reasons and NHAI is in the process of inviting bids for completion of the balance job. Thereafter, six laning of the stretch of the National Highway No. 1 will be completed.

For the four laning of Delhi-Hissar road including an elevated road at Bahadurgarh, the NHAI has invited bids for preparation of Detailed Project Report (DPR) for four laning of this stretch of NH-10 to be taken up on BOT basis.

The Chief Minister brought to the notice of Sh. Baalu that some of the State roads viz (i) Murthal-Sonepat-Kharkhooda-Jhajjar-Farrukhnagar-Gurgaon-Sohna-Palwal road, (ii) GT road to Jatheri-Akharpur, Rathdana-Nahra, Kudal, Bahadurgarh-Badli-Chandu, (iii) Hodel-Nuh-Patauda-Pataudi NH-17 road and (iv) Kotputli-Narnaul-Mohindergarh-Dadri-Bhiwani have deteriorated at a much faster rate as a result of diversion of heavy commercial traffic pursuant to Hon’ble Supreme Court’s directive. Sh. Baalu assured Ministry’s support to the State Government’s demand of renovation of roads in the State and the special package of Rs. 350 crores.
