growth in global demand for indian handicrafts

There is an increasing trend in demand for Indian Handicrafts in the world market. The Working Group on Jute & Textiles Industries for the 10th Plan has assessed that the export of Indian Handicrafts will grow at an annual average rate of more than 20 per cent.


The main items of handicrafts in demand in overseas markets are embroidered and crocheted goods, artmetal wares, shawls as artwares, imitation jewellery, zari and zari goods, wood ware, hand printed textiles & scarves.
