With the dissolution of the Bihar Legislative Assembly by a Presidential Proclamation on May 23, 2005, the Election Commission has been called upon to conduct General Elections to constitute the new Legislative Assembly in the State of Bihar. In order to assess the preparedness of the State election machinery, the prevailing ground situation, infrastructural and logistical requirements etc., the Commission is deputing a two-member team to Bihar. The team will comprise of Shri Anand Kumar, Deputy Election Commissioner and Shri S.K. Mendiratta, Legal Advisor and will be in Patna on 27th & 28th May, 2005. The team during this visit will meet the State Government officers, District Collectors and recognized Political Parties at Patna. The detailed itinerary and schedule of meetings will be intimated separately. The team will give its report to the Commission after assessing the ground situation.
