The Government has issued advisories to farmers to save available soil moisture and cost effective farm practices. The agriculture ministry circulated farm advisories to all the states for the benefit of farmers for ensuing kharif season. Farm experts have advised usage of scientific agricultural equipment and machinery. Using the zero till seed-cum-fertilizer drill provides optimum utilization of the available soil moisture without disturbing soil texture and saving in time thereby reduction in cost of cultivation by about Rs. 1700.00 per hectare.

The Agricultural scientists have also advised farmers to use rotavator. The rotavator prepares seed bed in one operation, provided there is adequate soil moisture (about 10 per cent). It also saves time in preparation of seedbed by 30-35 per cent compared to the conventional method and reduction in cost of operation by 20-25 per cent.

Using Raised bed planter would also be cost effective to farmers. The experts say, this equipment would save seeds and fertilizer by about 25 per cent and irrigation water by 25-30 per cent. The Planter also controls growing of weeds.
