disinvestment of government equity in bhel

The Government has decided to disinvest 10 per cent equity of Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL), out of its holding, through a book building process. In order to provide affordability to small investors and for their effective participation in the proposed offer for sale, BHEL will consider splitting the shares of the Company in consultation with the Department of Heavy Industry and the Department of Disinvestment.

A portion of shares to be disinvested will be reserved for the employees of BHEL.

At present, Government holds 67.72 per cent equity in BHEL and the balance 32.29 per cent is held by the public and institutions. The shares of the Company are listed in various stock exchanges in India.
