Defence Minister Shri Pranab Mukherjee has expressed his grief over the demise of Lt. Gen. (Retd) Jagjit Singh Aurora.
In his condolence message, the Defence Minister has said that General Aurora’s name had become synonymous with the highest level of patriotism as well as pride of victory in the war for every citizen and particularly in every Indian soldier. Shri Mukherjee said that General Aurora’s passing away has left a vacuum in our national life which will be difficult to fill up. As the principle architect of India’s victory in the Bangladesh war, General Aurora will be remembered for all times as a great war strategist and a great son of India, the minister added.
