The total reserves of coal as estimated by Geological Survey of India (GSI) by the end of the year 2004 is 247.85 billon tonnes. Out of this proved reserve is 92.96 billion tonnes, indicated reserve is 117.09 billion tonnes and inferred reserve 37.80 billion tonnes.
This information was given by the Minister of State for Coal & Mines, Dr. Dasari Narayana Rao, in a written reply in the Rajya Sabha, today.
