The Chief of Army Staff of China, Gen. Liang Guanglie called on the Vice President, Shri Bhairon Singh Shekhawat at Vice Presidents House here today. He is currently on a visit to India along with the delegation on the invitation of Chief of Army Staff of India.
Welcoming Gen. Guanglie and Members of delegation, Shri Shekhawat recalled the recent visit of Chinese Prime Minister to India during which a number of many significant documents were signed strengthening the ties between the two countries. He said that the current visit of Gen. Guanglie and his delegation is significant from the point of view of creating better understanding between the armies of the two neighbouring countries. He underline the need for greater people to people contact between the People of India and China. Shri Shekhawat said that India is committed to friendly ties with all its neighbours so that all of us can use our resources more towards betterment of living conditions of our people.
During the half an hour courtesy call, Gen. Guanglie brief the Vice President about his meetings with Chief of Army Staff and the senior defence officials together with his visits to various defence installations of India.
