CBI REGISTERS CASE AGAINST CHIEF MANAGER OF BANK FOR CAUSING LOSS OF RS. 35 LAKH.

CBI has registered a case against the Chief Manager of the State Bank
of Bikaner and Jaipur, New Rohtak Road Delhi Branch and proprietors of
three private companies for permitting indiscriminate purchase of
clearing cheques/demand drafts unauthorisedly and causing loss of Rs.35
lakh to the Bank.
In this connection, CBI carried out searches at three places in Delhi
today including Sushant Lok, Phase-I, Gurgaon residence of the Chief
Manager and residences of the proprietors of the three private companies
at Vivekanand Puri, Sarai Rohilla, New Rohtak Road, New Delhi. During
the search at the residence of the Chief Manager, properties, both
movable and immovable, at Delhi and Gurgaon worth Rs.48.25 lakh
consisting of three flats, one plot of land, one Santro Car, jewellery
and bank balances were recovered. A locker key has also been found
during the search. During the search at the premises of the private
persons, incriminating documents have been recovered. The Chief Manager
concerned is now under suspension.
The allegation was that the bank officials permitted indiscriminate
purchase of cheques and demand drafts meant for clearing under the demand
purchase facility and drawings against clearing which was allowed
unauthorisedly to the private persons by abusing her official position in
collusion with the private persons which resulted in wrongful loss of
Rs.35 lakh to the Bank.
