CBI ARRESTS DELHI POLICE OFFICIAL FOR BRIBE

The Central Bureau of Investigation has registered a case against an Inspector, posted as S.H.O. Police Station, Lajpat Nagar, New Delhi and a Sub Inspector posted at Police Post, Amar Colony, under Police Station Lajpat Nagar, New Delhi for demanding Rs.50,000/- from the complainant to settle the matter of an FIR registered against the complainant and his wife at Police Station, Lajpat Nagar. Later on, the Sub Inspector agreed to accept Rs.30,000/- as bribe and the balance amount was to be paid subsequently.

The complainant lodged a complaint with the C.B.I.. C.B.I. laid a trap and the accused Sub Inspector was caught red handed while demanding and accepting Rs.30,000/- as bribe from the complainant. He was arrested. The S.H.O. is absconding. Searches were conducted at the residential premises of the SHO and the S.I. Incriminating documents pertaining to investment in movable and immovable assets by the accused SHO/Inspector were seized which are under scrutiny.

The arrested SI was produced before the designated court today and given two-days CBI custody.
