The Calcutta Electric Supply Corporation (CESC) has topped the list of best performing utilities in power distribution among distribution companies and State Electricity Boards (SEBs) for the month of February 2005. The Central Electricity Authority has evaluated the performance of power distribution system of distribution companies/SEBs in respect of towns having population of more than 8 lakhs. The Evaluation was on the basis of average number of trippings per feeder and the outage duration per tripping for 11 KV System. The CESC has topped the list of 17 towns with the least figure of 0.11 followed by Reliance Energy for Mumbai (suburbs) with a figure of 0.21.
In terms of outage duration of a tripping the lowest is Tamil Nadu Electricity Board for Trichy town with a figure of 4.57 minutes followed by Jabalpur town with a figure of 7.62 minutes. The following is the evaluation report both in terms of number of trippings per feeder and outage duration per tripping.
