blacklisted foreign firms

The Minister of State (Independent charge) for Overseas Indian Affairs, Shri Jagdish Tytler told the Lok Sabha that a number of 256 firms in different countries have been placed in Prior Approval /black listed Category. The country-wise break-up is:- 1 in Azerbaijan, 1 in Bahrin, 2 in Brunei, 6 in Jordan, 4 in Kenya, 11 in Kuwait, 2 in Libya, 117 in Malaysia, 1 in Mauritius, 4 in Oman, 14 in Qatar, 65 in Saudi Arabia, 2 in Uganda, 10 in Ukrane, 14 in UAE and 2 in Yamen.

Generally, the complaints of the workers relate to the breach of contract, non-payment or less payment of salary, substitution of contract, poor working and living conditions and some times non-availability of sponsor on arrival etc. Shri Tytler added and said that on receipt of such complaints, the matter is taken up with the concerned registered Recruiting Agents who has sent them. Such Agents are asked to sort out the problem within a reasonable time frame. If the Recruiting Agent fails to resolve the problem, his Registration Certificate is suspended/cancelled and the Bank Guarantee may be forfeited. In serious complaints, the foreign companies are blacklisted and all Protectors of Emigrants are instructed not to give any emigration clearance for recruitment of workers by such foreign companies.
