99 kvs opened in last three years

The Government has opened 99 Kendriya Vidyalayas in the last three years from 2002-03 to 2004-05. During the same period 4409 teachers were selected for appointment in Kendriya Vidyalayas. In 2002-03, 1081 teachers were selected for appointment, 2264 in 2003-04 and 1564 teachers in 2004-05. However, during the last three years, 14 Kendriya Vidyalayas closed down. 12 Vidyalayas in project sector were closed at the request of sponsoring agencies and two Vidyalayas were closed due to non-availability of adequate infrastructural facilities.

This information was given by Shri M.A.A. Fatmi, Minister of State for Human Resource Development in a written reply in Rajya Sabha today.
