A 61-member Indian Skating squad, leaving tonight, will represent the country at the 11th Asian Roller Skating Championship to be held at Jeonju, South Korea from May 10th to 14th. The team members were seen off by the Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports, Shri Sunil Dutt, on the eve of their departure at Jawahar Lal Nehru Stadium here today.
The contingent includes 44 skaters, seven international Judges-Refree, and five officials of the Roller Skating Federation of India.
Speaking on the occasion, Shri Dutt hoped that the Skating team would perform well as they had done in the past also. He said that every youth of the country should devote two hours on sports activities. He said that the country is gradually making progress in various sports and hoped that corporate sector would supplement Government's efforts to improve condition of sports in the country by coming forward and adopt talented players.
