A total of 170 industrial units were closed and 9,850 workers were affected since January 2004 to March 2005. A major cause of the closures was industrial sickness. Government has taken several steps for revival of sick industrial units. Rehabilitation schemes, inter-alia, include capital restructuring, relief and concessions by financial institutions, banks and Government by rescheduling of dues, induction of fresh funds by promoters, Government assistance for Public Sector units, merger with other companies and change of management.
This information was given by the Minister of Labour and Employment, Shri K. Chandrasekhar Rao in a written reply in Rajya Sabha today.
