The Vice President, Shri Bhairon Singh Shekhawat has expressed deep grief over the demise of Lt. Gen. J.S. Aurora, a distinguished army officer and former Member of Parliament.
In his message the Vice President said that Lt. Gen Aurora was an intrepid fighter and an impassioned patriot whose distinguished services in the Indian army, especially during 1971 war, was a saga of valour and sacrifice for the cause of the motherland. He remains an abiding source of inspiration to generations of officers and men of the armed forces. In his death, the country has lost a dedicated soldier, an adept strategist and above all a man of deep sensitivity and compassion, the Vice President added.
A wreath was also placed on the body of the departed soul, on behalf of the Vice President.
