Tuesday, May 10, 2005

CPCL, NRL, MRPL and Mathura refineris have already commenced supply of Euro III fuel in line with the roadmap laid in the Auto Fuel policy while the Panipat refinery has commenced part supply of Euro III High Speed Diesel. BRPL, Digboi and Gauhati refineries are scheduled to commence supply of Euro III fuels by April 2010 for which they have initiated quality up gradation projects.

In respect of fuel quality upgradation projects at IOC’s Gujarat and Haldia refineries , BPCL’s Mumbai refinery and HPCL’s Vizag refinery, the Government is closely monitoring their implementation. Corrective actions have been taken as there has been some delay in implementation of quality upgradation projects in these refineries owing to unexpected and unforeseen problems. .

Euro III equivalent fuel has already been introduced in the 11 identified cities with effect from 1.4.2005 as per the road map laid in the Auto Fuel Policy by making good the shortfall in indigenous production through imports.

This information was given by Shri Mani Shankar Aiyar, Minister of Petroleum & Natural Gas and Panchayati Raj in a written reply in the Rajya Sabha today.
