BHEL is planning to invest about Rs.1000 core for modernization and augmentation of its manufacturing facilities by 2007 to meet the anticipated increase in demand of Power Plant equipment.

Provisional assessment (flash results) for the year 2004-05 indicates that BHEL has registered a growth of 21% in turnover, 58% increase in profit before tax and 52% increase in net profit as compared to 2003-04. BHEL has achieved an export turnover of Rs.2331 crore, which includes Rs.831 crore of physical exports.

This information was given by the Minister of Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises, Shri Sontosh Mohan Dev in a written reply to a question in Rajya Sabha today.
