Indian Bureau of Mines (IBM), a subordinate office under the Ministry of Mines completed nine consultancy assignments during April-December, 2004. It took up geological exploration of iron ore deposit of Borai Tibbu area in Chhattisgarh state for M/s. HEG Limited and mine reclamation plan for Narangi stone quarry in Thane district, Maharashtra. It completed the mine reclamation plan for six stone quarries in Thane district, Maharashtra, excavation measurement at Tailangi chromite mine for M/s. IDCOL Ferro Chrome Alloys Limited, status report on manganese ore deposit at Bhilapar village, Chhindwara district, Madhya Pradesh and Topographic survey of Bhotang, Pancheykhani, Upper Pancheykhan and Dikchu copper mines for M/s. Sikkim Mining Corporation. During this period, the scheme of mining of Kiriburu iron ore mine for M/s. SAIL, modified Regional Mineral Development Plan of Rowghat for Mainpat and Kawarda for M/s. BALCO also have been completed. In addition to these assignments, 30 other assignments are in progress. This information is given in the Annual Report 2004-05 of the Mines Ministry.
IBM provides technical consultancy services on prescribed charges for geological appraisals, survey of the areas, preparation of feasibility study reports, environment impact assessment and environment management plan, selection of suitable mining equipment and evaluation of feasibility report prepared by other consultants and financial institutions.
