A two-day workshop on “Media and Disaster Management” began here this morning. Senior officers from the Ministry of Home Affairs, State Governments and representatives of media are among those participating in the workshop. Inaugurating the workshop, the Secretary (Disaster Management), Bihar, Shri C. Ashokvardhan called upon media to act as a bridge between people and the Government during disasters. He said that media can play an important role in awakening people and changing their mind-set.
The workshop will discuss the role of media in disaster management and make recommendations to the Government. It is being organised by the National Institute of Disaster Management, Ministry of Home Affairs.
