transmission system associated with kaiga project

The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) today gave its approval for the establishment of transmission system associated with Kaiga – 3 & 4 Atomic Power Project at a total estimated cost of Rs.588.25 crore including Interest During Construction (IDC) component of Rs.30.72 crore.


The transmission project would facilitate evacution of power from the Kaiga project [2x235 MW] and further dispersal to various beneficiaries of Southern Region.


The related Transmission Lines are as follows:


(i) Narendra (POWERGRID) – Davangere (Karnataka Power Transmission Corporation Limited (KPTCL)) 400 kV D/C line – 158 km


(ii) Mysore (POWERGRID) – Kozhikode (POWERGRID) 400 kV D/C line – 215 km


(iii) Loop-in-loop-out of Kolar (POWERGRID) – Sriperumbudur (POWERGRID) 400 kV S/C line at Melakottaiyur (POWERGRID) – 40 km
