training to small scale entrepreneurs

With a view to encouraging small scale industries to export their products, Government of India has been regularly organising awareness and training programmes on manufacture of products as per quality standards of various countries as also on the needs of certification as per internationally recognized quality standards on management and environment.

Government has established 4 Regional Testing Centres at New Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai and Chennai and 7 Field Testing Stations at Jaipur, Bhopal, Kolhapur, Hyderabad, Bangalore Pondicherry and Changancherry to assist small scale industries in carrying out testing and certification of their products as per quality standards of different countries.

In order to create awareness among small scale entrepreneurs regarding ISO 9000 quality management system and to provide them information on such certification, Ministry of SSI through Small Industries Service Institutes and Regional Testing Centres located in the States, is providing training to SSI entrepreneurs. Besides, small scale units acquiring ISO-9001/ISO 14001 certification are provided reimbursement of 75% of the cost incurred (up to Rs.75000/- ). Under this scheme, 7,226 SSI units have been benefited upto 15.2.2005.
