strengthening and development of agricultural education

The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) last evening approved the strengthening and development of agricultural education. The scheme comprise sub-schemes, namely, Development and Strengthening of State Agricultural Universities (SAUs), Deemed Universities (DUs) and Central Universities (CUs), Rural Awareness Work Experience (RAWE), Best Teacher Award, Accreditation, University Level Text Books, Emeritus Scientist Scheme, Centres of Advanced Studies, Establishment of SKUAST at Jammu, Excellence in Niche Areas, AHRD Project Spillover, and All India Coordinated Research Project on Home Science at a total cost of Rs.803.75 crore during X Plan (Rs.719.84 as ICAR share and Rs.83.91 crore as matching State share).

The scheme is aimed at ensuring quality education and producing professionals and academicians who are self-reliant and are not white-collared job seekers.
