Shri Jyoti Krishan Dutt, an IPS Officer of 1971 batch (West
Bengal Cadre) today took over as Additional Director in the
Central Bureau of Investigation. Before joining CBI, he was
Additional Director General in the Central Industrial Security
Force(CISF). Shri Dutt had earlier held several important
positions in CBI from 1985 to 1992 and 1995 to 2002 including
holding the post of Joint Director (Administration & Special
Crimes), DIG and Supdt. of Police. He was associated with
the investigation of a number of sensitive cases, entrusted
to CBI by the Supreme Court and High Courts, including the
Purulia arms dropping case that ended in conviction of the
accused persons.
Shri Dutt has served at Kharagpur, Durgapur, in 24 Parganas,
North Bengal and as S.P. in Cooch Bihar and Sealdah GRP. He
also worked in the North-Eastern States of Tripura and Sikkim.
Shri Dutt, a Post Graduate in History from Delhi University
was decorated with the Police Medal for Gallantry in 1977;
the Police Medal for Meritorious Service in 1988 and the President's
Police Medal for Distinguished Service in 1997.
