The following is the state-wise allocation and release of fund for the year 2004-05 under Valmiki Ambedkar Awas Yojana (VAMBAY) to provide shelter or upgrade the existing shelter for people living below the poverty line in urban slums.

Valmiki Ambedkar Awas Yojana is a demand driven scheme and financial releases are made against proposals complete in all respects. During 2001-02 an amount of Rs. 6,967.35 lakhs and Rs. 21,724.405 lakhs in 2002-03 was released as central subsidy. In the year 2003-04, Rs. 23,061 lakh was released as central subsidy for this scheme with Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh and Kerala being the maximum beneficiaries.
