Shri R.S. Varshneya has taken over as Member Staff, Railway Board and ex-officio Secretary to the Government of India in the Ministry of Railways. He succeeds Shri S.M. Singla who retired w.e.f. October 31, 2004. Prior to his joining as Member Staff, Shri Varshneya was General Manager, East Central Railway, Hajipur.
An Indian Railways Service Engineer (IRSE) of 1968 batch, Shri Varshneya has vast experience of having worked on various key posts on different Zonal Railways, which includes Principal Chief Engineer, Western Railway; Managing Director, MRVC, CAO (SI), Mumbai; Chief Engineer (Const.) & Chief Track Engineer C. Rly. He worked as Divisional Railway Manager, Alipurduar, N.F. Rly. and also as Director / RDSO.
