Coal India Limited (CIL), of the Ministry of Coal has identified 99 coal projects during Tenth Five Year Plan period for increasing coal production. Out of these 99 projects, 60 have already been sanctioned and are in different stages of implementation.
Project approval / sanction involves inter-Ministerial approvals of various appraising ministries. Government is making all efforts to reduce time delays in new project approvals by streamlining / reducing the approval stages.
This information was given by the Minister of State for Coal & Mines, Dr. Dasari Narayana Rao, in a written reply in the Rajya Sabha today.
