The Union Cabinet today gave its approval for introduction of the Navy (Amendment) Bill, 1997 in the Rajya Sabha within three weeks. It will help in by incorporating a few provisions in the Navy Act, 1957 to make it compatible, as far as possible, with the civil and criminal law of the country and to plug certain loopholes.
