An evaluation of the ‘National Service Scheme (NSS) was conducted by the Indian Institute of Public Administration (IIPA) in 1996-97.
The major findings of the study centred around four main points - ideas, structure, issues related to grants and functions performed by various levels of the organisational structure of NSS.
A proposal to extend the scheme to cover Secondary school and High school students has been formulated.
This information was given by the Union Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports, Shri Sunil Dutt in a written reply in the Rajya Sabha today.
