msp for jute during 2005-06

The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) today approved Rs.910 per quintal as the Minimum Support Price (MSP) of TD-5 grade of Jute ex-Assam for 2005-06 season on the recommendations of Commission for Agricultural Costs and Prices (CACP). MSPs of other varieties and grades of raw jute across locations will be fixed keeping in view, apart from normal market price differentials, the price differentials relating to grading undertaken on the basis of scores obtained.

The Jute Corporation of India will continue to be nodal agency to undertake price support operations. Losses incurred, if any, in the MSP operations, will be fully reimbursed by the Central Government.
