Indian Bureau of Mines (IBM), a subordinate office under the control of Ministry of Mines carries out inspection for implementation of mineral conservation and development rules. It detects violations and takes up follow up action in the matter. It also approves mining schemes. During the period April to December, 2004, IBM has inspected 1986 mines and approved 275 mining plans. During the period, it pointed out 2291 violations and after issue of show cause notices 919 violations were fully rectified. The violations detected and follow up action taken during last three years is given below :
