Mineral Exploration Corporation Limited (MECL), a public sector unit of the Ministry of Mines, carried out 16,445 meters of drilling and 507 meters of developmental mining during February 2005 against the targets of 14,200 meters and 450 meters respectively. It carried out 1,50,558 meters of drilling during the period April 2004 to February 2005 against 1,49,343 meters during the same period last year. The cumulative figure for the developmental mining was 5,708 meters against 2,980 meters during the same period of the previous year.
