The Government of Andhra Pradesh has requested the Union Government to merge Secunderabad Cantonment Board with the Municipal Corporation of Hyderabad. The requests were received from the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh during the years 1999 and 2004. The request of the State Government was considered by the Government and it was not found feasible to merge the Cantonment areas with the Municipal Corporation of Hyderabad due to security considerations.
This information was given by the Defence Minister Shri Pranab Mukherjee in a written reply to Shri A S Prathap in Lok Sabha today.
INSTALLATION OF ELECTRONIC PUNCHING CLOCK
It has been decided to install electronic punching clock in all Ordnance Factories. Electronic Attendance Recording System (EARS) has already been installed in 16 Ordnance Factories. Further, purchase orders for EARS for 17 factories have been placed which are in different stages of supply/installation. For remaining 6 factories, the cases for procurement are being processed. Expenditure involved for installation of the system is likely to be Rs 14.71 crore. This information was given by the Minister of State for Defence Production Shri B K Handique in a written reply to Shri Rakesh Singh in Lok Sabha today.
