The Government of India is aware of and concerned about the implications of the growth of Maoist insurgency in Nepal because of the open border and the links between Nepal’s Maoists and Left Wing Extremist and other groups in India. The Maoist insurgency in Nepal has also fuelled migration of Nepalese into our border States. His Majesty’s Government of Nepal is aware of these concerns. Government of India has also taken steps to strengthen security in border areas and the Sashastra Seema Bal has intensified its patrolling along the India-Nepal Border.
This information was given to Lok Sabha today by the Minister of State for External Affairs, Shri Rao Inderjit Singh in reply to a question by S/Sh. Brajesh Pathak, Rajiv Ranjan Singh ‘Lalan’, Ramji Lal Suman, Kinjarapu Yerrannaidu, Mohan Singh and D. Vittal Rao.
