The Lok Sabha Speaker, Shri Somnath Chatterjee has advocated usage of Homoeopathy to treat various life style disorders keeping in view its efficacy and cost- effectiveness. He was inaugurating the Silver Jubilee function of the Central Council for Research in Homoeopathy (CCRH) yesterday. Underlining the need to encourage the Homoeopathy system of medication, Shri Chatterjee said that the practitioners of the system should not feel inhabited in working in rural areas.
The Lok Sabha Speaker paid encomium to the Union Health & Family Welfare Minister, Dr. Anbumani Ramadoss addressing him as a “walking medical encyclopaedia”.
Speaking on the occasion, the Union Health & Family Welfare Minister, Dr. Anbumani Ramadoss said that WHO in its report had pointed out the growing adoption of traditional systems of medicine in the developed world for the simple reason that they do not come with side effects. He said that in the United Kingdom, about 25 per cent of the prescriptions is from Homoeopathy which itself speaks for its popularity there.
