The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) today approved a modified scheme, Intensive Dairy Development Programme (IDDP) for implementation during X Plan within the approved outlay of Rs.175 crore and first two years of XI Plan within the outlay to be approved by the Planning Commission. The scheme will be implemented in hilly and backward areas including the districts which have received less than Rs.50 lakh in dairy development activities during Operation Flood Programme. Approval has also been given for the continuation of the projects already approved under the existing scheme.
The Pattern of funding would be 100 per cent grant in-aid basis from the Central Government to the State Government / UT Administration except the following:
a) Cost of land for chilling centres and dairy Plant/LN2 Plant
b) Cost of land for cattle feed godowns
c) Cost of land for establishment of cattle/buffalo farms
d) Provision of water and electricity connection
e) Salary of project and monitoring staff
It will result in increase in milk production, remunerative price to the producers and availability of hygienic milk and milk products in the market. Even the States having poor financial resources will be able to develop dairying.
